| 16 | MOTION SUBMITTED UNDER STANDING ORDER 29 One motion submitted in accordance with Standing Order 29 is set out below. The motion is reserved to Council. Scottish Parliamentary Election Falkirk council congratulates Gary Bouse and Martyn Day on being elected for Falkirk West and Falkirk East and Linlithgow as Members of the Scottish Parliament. Falkirk Councillors look forward to working with the new MSPs to further the interests of the residents of the Falkirk Council area. We call on our new MSPs to press the new Scottish Government to: 1. Reaffirm a commitment to the Verity House agreement and the maxim "local by default, national by agreement" 2. Review Local Government powers and funding arrangements to ensure adequacy and alignment with effective delivery of outcomes. The powers held by local authorities shall normally be full and exclusive. They may not be undermined or limited by another, central or regional, authority except as provided for by the law. 3. In particular we call on our MSPs to press for improvements in the funding arrangements for Local Government and Integration Joint Boards to ensure adequate provision of Education, Housing, Social Care Services, roads and flooding prevention, waste services, and support for local businesses and employment.
