This is the history for the submission "Grangemouth Industrial and Manufacturing Sector Falkirk Council expresses its disappointment at the news of the closure of the Ethanol Plant at Grangemouth after more than 40 years of operation. This is a further blow to the Grangemouth Complex following last year's decision by Petroineos to close Scotland's only refinery at the same site, and to the local economy in Grangemouth and Falkirk. Council agrees that the Leader should write to the Prime Minister and First Minister respectively to seek assurance about their governments' commitment to manufacturing in Scotland the UK, and Grangemouth in particular, in relation to the critically important energy and chemicals industries. These letters will also call for the Grangemouth Future Industries Board's role to be reshaped to deal with the here and now as well as future opportunities, or for there to be a Taskforce established urgently to focus on the immediate future of the wider Grangemouth Complex. We also seek assurances on what support is currently being provided to Ineos and other major local employers to assist them through this particularly challenging period. Council also asks for officers to come forward with a report as soon as possible on existing activity to support Grangemouth to include the Growth Deal, Forth Green Freeport, Project Willow and Acorn.".
